The Xtar MX4 Mini Mixer is a four-slot charger engineered to manage a range of rechargeable chemistries within a single unit. Each bay determines the appropriate charging method automatically, applying voltage and current profiles suited to lithium-based cells and NiMH formats. This configuration enables independent charging behaviour, allowing multiple battery types to be processed simultaneously without user adjustment. The design supports all three major rechargeable categories—1.5 V lithium AA/AAA, 1.2 V NiMH AA/AAA, and 3.6/3.7 V lithium-ion—making it the first charger in its class capable of charging all three within one system.

Its USB-C input provides stable low-voltage power, while internal control logic manages charge progression and termination. LED indicators present slot-by-slot status, and built-in safeguards help regulate operation during routine use. The mechanical layout supports common cylindrical sizes and offers activation support for cells that have fallen below typical operating voltage. Unlike capacity-limited chargers, the MX4 imposes no maximum mAh rating; it determines charge completion by monitoring voltage behaviour rather than battery capacity, enabling compatibility with high-capacity cells.
